The distinctiveness of Ikat sarees lies in the transfer of intricate designs and colours onto warp and weft threads first and then weave them together. Bold choice of colours is one of the unique feature in the Ikat weaving process.
This time we have 3 varieties of Ikat cotton sarees. The first one is Sambhalpuri style with plain body and ikat woven temple border, the second one is all over Ikat pattern with separate Ikat woven blouse and the final one is double Ikat woven sarees where the weft and warp are woven in Ikat style with attached blouse. These are purely handwoven sarees where the weaving process is very complicated thereby requires skilled weavers to produce detailed ikat pattern. These sarees are light weight and easy to carry.
